No One Left Outside: From One Idea to a National Movement

When we launched the No One Left Outside campaign, we knew we were asking people to stand up for something simple but incredibly important: no one should ever have to choose between a safe place to sleep and the pet they love.

What we didn't know was just how many people would stand with us.

Over the past near 6 months, our campaign has grown from a single petition into a national movement. Together, we've taken this conversation from social media to Parliament, into newspapers, onto the radio, in magazines and into the hearts of thousands of people across the UK.

Where it all began

The campaign launched with one clear aim: to change the way homelessness accommodation works for people with pets.

Every day we see people forced to remain homeless because emergency, temporary or supported accommodation won't accept their companion animal. For many, that pet is their family, their emotional support, and the reason they keep going.

We believe no one should be forced to give that up.

Thousands of voices

Since launching, thousands of people have signed our petition, shared our message and helped spread the word.

Every signature represents someone who believes homelessness services can do better.

Every share has helped us reach new audiences.

Every conversation has challenged outdated ideas about homelessness and pet ownership.

Taking the campaign to Parliament

One of our biggest milestones came when we took No One Left Outside directly to Parliament.

Supported by MPs from across the political spectrum, we brought together politicians, charities, homelessness organisations, veterinary professionals, campaigners and people with lived experience to discuss why pet-inclusive accommodation matters.

The event gave us the opportunity to share the real stories behind the campaign and explain why this change is both compassionate and practical.

The people behind the campaign

Throughout the campaign we've been privileged to share stories from people who have experienced homelessness with their pets.

Families like Rosie the dog and her dad, whose story showed exactly why this campaign matters.

Rather than giving up Rosie, he chose to remain homeless until pet-friendly accommodation became available. His story has helped thousands of people understand why this issue is about much more than animals: it's about dignity, recovery, mental health and hope.

We've also highlighted stories from people supported through our Pet Champion Scheme, proving that when accommodation welcomes pets, lives can begin to rebuild.

Growing political support

Over the past few months, we've seen support continue to grow.

MPs from across the country have publicly backed the campaign, met with Street Paws, shared our petition, and pledged to help keep the conversation moving.

Every new supporter brings us one step closer to meaningful change.

National media coverage

The campaign has received incredible media attention.

We've featured in:

  • BBC Radio

  • National and regional newspapers

  • Online news outlets

  • Charity publications

  • Veterinary publications

  • Podcasts

Each interview has given us another opportunity to explain why people experiencing homelessness should never be separated from the pets they love.

Incredible supporters

We've also been humbled by the support from well-known campaigners, charities and public figures who have helped amplify our message.

Whether by attending events, sharing our petition or speaking publicly about the campaign, every supporter has helped us reach audiences we never could have reached alone.

Communities coming together

One of the most inspiring parts of this campaign has been watching ordinary people become campaigners themselves.

People have:

  • Shared the petition with friends and family.

  • Asked workplaces to support the campaign.

  • Contacted their MPs.

  • Shared our videos.

  • Started conversations online.

  • Helped us reach new communities.

This campaign has never just belonged to Street Paws. It belongs to everyone who believes people shouldn't lose their best friend because they've lost their home.

More than a petition

Alongside the petition, we've continued growing our Pet Champion Scheme, working with homelessness accommodation providers to show that welcoming pets can be done safely, responsibly and successfully.

Every new partnership demonstrates that pet-inclusive accommodation isn't just possible, it already works.

The campaign has also allowed us to educate professionals, challenge misconceptions and build stronger relationships across the homelessness, housing and veterinary sectors.

We’re not finished yet

Although we've achieved so much together, we're not done. We still need more signatures, more conversations and we still need more people standing alongside those facing homelessness with their pets.

Every signature brings us closer to ensuring this issue cannot be ignored.

Thank you

To everyone who has: signed, shared, commented, volunteered, fundraised, attended an event, or simply believed in what we're trying to achieve.

This campaign has shown what's possible when people come together around a simple idea: no one should ever have to choose between a roof over their head and the companion they love.

Together, we're standing up for people and pets facing homelessness.

And together, we'll keep going until No One Left Outside becomes a reality.
